Wither Wii Weather?
There is an island in the Pacific, south of Port Vila, called Erromango; it's the southern-most province of Vanuatu and formerly known as Martyr's Island due to a delicious mix of missionaries and cannibalism. It is probably a delightful place with friendly inhabitants; I don't have a clue, I've never been there.
The Japanese translation of this place name is probably "iromanngoto" using katakana to translate "erromango" to "i-ro-ma-n-go" followed by the kanji for island or "shima", read here as "to-"
Nintendo's excellent and strangely addictive Wii Weather Channel, however, uses the older and increasingly unfashionable Japanese spelling. You'll have a job finding it, though, as it only pops up at the maximum level of magnification. So find Port Vila, zoom in as far as you can and scroll south a little. And there it is...
"Ero-manga island". For the benefit of those who don't speak Japanese "ero manga" is the term used for "erotic manga", those pervy comic books depicting big-eyed characters in a variety of sinful, lewd and obscene acts sportng fallusses and chests that defy genetics. Of course the discovery of this island on the Weather Channel caused great hilarity amongst my colleagues. The Japanese translation of this place name is probably "iromanngoto" using katakana to translate "erromango" to "i-ro-ma-n-go" followed by the kanji for island or "shima", read here as "to-"

"Ero Manga island? So that is where they make them!", "I want to move there!" and "Imagine the stockpiles. We've found the mother lode! Hurray!"
So if you're the kind of person, like me, who finds funny place names hilarious, well, then you'd probably enjoy this too. Well, I thought it was funny.
